Possibly. NY State law requires us to collect sales taxes on certain kinds of work. However, most of our projects fall in the "capital improvement" category and are therefore exempt from sales tax. We will ask you to fill out and sign a NY State form called a Certificate of Capital Improvement (ST-124) that we will keep for our records.
9. Why should I hire you over someone else?
Several reasons:
● We will do what we say we will do.
● Our standards are as high and possibly higher than your standards. You won't hear us say "can't see it from my house" or "good enough."
● We will communicate with you every step of the way.
● We are a legitimate business. We comply with state and local laws, we pay taxes and we are insured to protect you and us. Ask other handymen to show you evidence that they have in liability insurance and whether they comply with the Workers Compensation law and with the laws around collection of sales tax. If they don't, you may be liable for the shortcuts that they take.
